Pioneering Lazy Magnolia Brewing Co. Celebrates 10th Anniversary Milestone

March 1, 2015

Lazy Magnolia Brewing Co., based at Stennis International Airport, recently celebrated its 10th anniversary, a significant milestone for the pioneering Hancock County business that bills itself as Mississippi's oldest brewery.

Lazy Magnolia is now sold across the South and surrounding states, from Texas to New York.

"Lazy Magnolia has become one of our state's most well-recognized brands and we are proud that Lazy Magnolia calls Hancock County home," said Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission Executive Director Ashley Edwards. "We congratulate the Lazy Magnolia team on 10 great years and we look forward to all the success that the next 10 years will hold."

Lazy Magnolia Founders Mark and Leslie Henderson, both Mississippi natives and engineers, can trace the start of their venture to a home-brew kit. The first batch of Lazy Magnolia was brewed in January 2005 and the first kegs appeared on the Gulf Coast market in March 2005. In August of that year, Hurricane Katrina shut down operations but the Hendersons got back to brewing by October 2005.

The Hendersons have grown Lazy Magnolia into a well-respected brewer of award-winning beers. The brewery itself has become a tourist draw with its tours and monthly events known as First Friday. Lazy Magnolia donates a portion of their entry sales to support a charity.

"As Mississippi's Brewery, we try our best to embrace the very virtues that characterize our home as the Hospitality State," the owners say.
