Cotter named Mississippi Airports Association Professional of the Year

William "Bill" Cotter, Interim CEO of the Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission, is the Mississippi Airports Association Professional of the Year. He was honored at the MMA annual conference Dec. 2.

Cotter previously served as the HCPHC Chief Operating Officer as well as the Airport Director at Stennis International where he managed over $70M in Federal and State Grants and implemented an additional $40M in FEMA, bonds, and internally funded projects at the airport.  He has more than 26 years of airport experience including private, corporate, and municipal airport management. Cotter earned degrees in both Airport Management and Business Administration.

An active pilot, Cotter is an American Association of Airport Executives Certified Manager. He has served as President of the Mississippi Airports Association and as a member of the Hancock Chamber of Commerce and the Hancock County Tourism Board.

The Mississippi Airports Association is a consortium of individuals and organizations interested in enhancing aviation in the state. Members include those involved in airport management as well as consultants, businesspeople, and government employees.

The purpose of MAA is to promote aviation and airport interests, to provide a medium for discussion by its members, to promote proper legislation for aviation and airports and to advise and give consultation to its members when requested.
